Marshmallow Gangsters is my creative let-out. A place where I can write and create the music I want, without judgement. Who am I? My Name is not important at the moment. My music is.

The therapeutic, emotional ride I experience when writing, will hopefully translate to the listeners. Described by some as a blend of pop, rock, disco, classical, drum and bass. Marshmallow Gangsters music to me is simply anything goes. I believe good music is good music, regardless of where you find it. How you write it, and how it's played. For me, it’s about music. Like filmmaking, the objective is to elicit an emotional response from the listener. It doesn’t matter if it’s a good or bad response really, but preferably the former is better.

With film, which I've been part of, the foundation is script or screenplay. A good producer assembles the right team to take that screenplay to a final product that will provide a decent return on investment (ROI).

Although the music industry can be said to be similar, perhaps the divergence is that film is made for people to see, whereas music can be made for the writer as a self-searching exposition of personal demons and issues. For that reason, it’s not always the case that a musician’s focus is the audience. However, because music can strike a chord with each of us, frequently provoking an emotional response. We apply it to our lives.

Unlike other art forms, music tends to bind itself tenaciously to points in our life. Our first date. Our wedding. Whatever the situation, musical tune can bind our experiences with itself.

In my teens, like many people, I formed an amateur band with a friend. We wrote and rehearsed for a few years and then dissolved. Then we reformed and dissolved. The same usual routine as many bands have subjected themselves to. If I am honest, I think part of the issue was that I could not produce the music I wanted. This I found is typical in bands. Individually people are great, however trying to meld ideas is a whole other game. Perhaps I have a control freak streak within me. As a matter of fact, when I look back, I loved computers and coded as a hobby. That in itself suits a control freak. I can imagine that trait has driven both passions.

Similar to Damon Albran’s Gorillaz music project, I decided to create a virtual band, where I can explore my creativity and passion to its full extent, without having to convince others of a direction. I just download the music from my subconscious.
